We are still closed, but as of Summer 2025 we hope to permanently re-open:
Wednesday – Sunday
10am – 4pm
£5 entry, children free
Dogs allowed but please keep them on a lead
Please bear in mind that due to some fairly dramatic topography the garden is really not all that friendly to folk with mobility challenges. If these are your circumstances, then you’re welcome to turn up for free and we will try to help as best we can, of course. But we have a lot of gravel/bark paths, and some steep and narrow stairs.
We don’t have proper toilets yet either, sorry. We’re working on it.
We have no public parking, so please park at Cove Bay picnic area, or at the side of Shore Road, bearing in mind to leave the pavement free for people with prams, mobility scooters, walking frames or bags.
We are located on the western side of the Rosneath Peninsula, just west of Helensburgh.
By Road: From Helensburgh, head North to Garelochhead. Go through Garelochhead and turn left on the B833, towards Rosneath and Kilcreggan. Drive around the whole peninsula, through both those villages until you reach Cove. Past Cove Country Store and Cove Burgh Hall you will see Cove picnic area by the shore on your left, which is the only public parking facility. From there, walk up the wee lane along the burn, between the two garden walls and we are 20 metres along on the left.
By Bus: Alternatively you can take the 316 bus to Coulport from either from Colquhoun Square or right outside the train station in Helensburgh and ask the driver to kick you off at Cove picnic area.
By Boat (because, frankly, going anywhere by boat is just more fun): Take the boat from Gourock to Kilcreggan and either walk up the western side of the Peninsula (45 mins or so) or take the 316 towards Coulport and get off at Cove Picnic Area.
Umm, how about some photos…
